About the role

As a Software Engineer for API integration, you will be part of our backend development team. You will be responsible to define and extend our data integrations for 3rd party partners and enterprise customers. We are looking for a hands-on engineer to solve real-world problems, provide loosely coupled software, and understand how to write reusable code.

What you will do

  • Integrate our cloud-based product portfolio with enterprise systems and tools.
  • Work with APIs and our customers' systems throughout the integration process.
  • Collaborate closely with our software development in finding and implementing these solutions.
  • Implement efficient and effective data exchange synchronization to remove error-prone manual data entry.
  • Understand how systems work and translate this into technical requirements on how an integration needs to function.

Our technology stack and tools

  • We develop in Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript
  • We build upon AWS, Aurora MySQL, and Spring Framework
  • We also use Slack, Jira, Git, Docker, and CircleCI

We are looking for a person with

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, preferably in building, integrating, and testing APIs.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Business Informatics, or a proven track record in developing non-trivial applications is a strong plus (we value experience higher than degrees).
  • Proficiency in writing Java code.
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and REST APIs.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts in an easy and digestible way to customers and colleagues.
  • Strong communication skills in English.

That said, we'd be particularly delighted to hire someone with

  • Experience with ERP (e.g. SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) integrations.
  • Experience with E-commerce (Shopify, WoCommerce) integrations.
  • Additional languages (humane and machine).

At this point, Cropster will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Austria for this opening. For Non-EU applicants: please attach your work permit to your application.

Why you might want to work with us

  • We're small, so there are no layers of bureaucracy to work through.
  • You can have a huge impact here.
  • We care about our people as much as we care about our customers. Work-life balance is not only a catchphrase for us and flex time and home office are a given.
  • Feedback equals growth for us. Welcoming and sharing insights help us grow personally and professionally.
  • People working in the coffee industry are passionate, open, inspiring, and just pure joy to work with. There are not many industries that can claim that.
  • Purpose. Our ❤ beats for coffee and its industry—from producer to barista—and our work has a lasting impact on it.
  • We have a deep appreciation for a good cup of coffee and don’t get through the day without (at least) one.

Why you might not want to work with us

  • We’re small, we don't have processes for everything. If you need 100% structure and prefer micromanagement, we won't make you happy.
  • We grow and move at a steady pace and still learn new things as we go. If you’re reluctant to change and like things the way they are, we’re probably not a perfect match.
  • If the things mentioned in the why you might want to work with us section aren’t for you.
