Annual Benefit Report

Cropster Inc. (2025)

Benefit Corporation

Cropster Inc. is a subsidiary of Cropster GmbH, based in Austria, and a legally incorporated benefit corporation in California. Benefit corporations are committed to higher standards of purpose, accountability, and transparency. This means our legal purpose is to create a positive impact on society and the environment. We are committed to making decisions that benefit all our stakeholders, including our employees, our communities, and the planet, alongside our shareholders.

Cropster’s Purpose and Commitment

To Cropster, sustainability means leveraging our technology to address social and environmental challenges across the specialty food supply chain. We are committed to creating long-term value for our customers, our people, and our communities while honoring our responsibility to the natural world.

  • Our Mission: To drive quality, productivity, and sustainability excellence across the coffee value chain with accessible technology. We help people focus on core processes related to quality, consistency, planning, traceability, and resource management at every stage of production.
  • Our Vision: We power the coffee industry’s transition into a fairer, more economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible model for everyone. We believe affordable technology can be used by everyone to increase fairness for all players in the market, resulting in a better, more sustainable cup for consumers.

Initiatives to Date

Our commitment to transparency and sustainability predates our formal status as a B Corp. These core values have been part of Cropster since the beginning, and our reporting reflects the steady evolution of our progress.

  • Foundational Tracking: Well before achieving our B Corp certification, we prioritized understanding our impact. Since 2018, we have tracked and offset global flight data to manage the carbon footprint of our business travel, and by 2020, we expanded this to monitor energy, water, and waste across our physical offices in Austria and the U.S.
  • Community Advocacy (2019): Driven by our mission to create a fairer industry for all players (particularly the smallholders and producers who are often overlooked), we co-launched the Sustainable Coffee Buyer Guide (SCBG). This initiative was designed to generate awareness, drive systems change, and help small-scale farmers earn a prosperous wage.
  • The B Corp Journey (Beginning 2019): We began the multi-year process of aligning our internal operations to B Corp standards in 2019, ensuring our business practices matched our founding values.
  • Benefit Corporation Status (2022): Formalizing our commitment to stakeholder interests, Cropster Inc. became a California Benefit Corporation in 2022. This legally changed our corporate structure to ensure we prioritize our impact on people and the planet alongside our financial performance.
  • Deepening Our Insight (2025): We completed our most mature carbon inventory to date this year. While we have long tracked our direct operations and business travel, this deep dive revealed that over 98% of our carbon footprint sits within our broader value chain (Scope 3). This clarity allows us to expand our efforts and focus where we can have the greatest impact.
  • Certification and Growth (2023–2026): Following our initial B Corp Certification in 2023, we used the recertification process in 2026 to further refine our practices. This focus on steady growth resulted in a six-point increase in our overall impact score.

B Corp Certification

Beyond our internal goals, we are proud to be part of a global movement of businesses committed to using their platform as a force for good. Cropster has been a certified B Corporation since February 2023, and our recent recertification in January 2026 reflects our focus on steady improvement. During this period, we raised our impact score from 82.3 to 88.5 points.

Maintaining this status ensures our business practices align with our goal of supporting a fairer and more sustainable coffee industry.

Third-Party Social and Environmental Performance Standard

We use the B Impact Assessment (BIA) to hold ourselves accountable to a rigorous, third-party standard. Governed by the nonprofit B Lab and used by over 150,000 businesses worldwide, this tool allows us to manage our performance year-over-year.

We selected the BIA because it is a comprehensive and holistic framework that measures a company’s entire social and environmental impact. This ensures our reporting remains credible, transparent, and independent. By using this assessment, we ensure every department at Cropster plays an active role in advancing our goals between formal recertification cycles.

B Impact Report

The following summary details our progress across the five key pillars of the BIA. You can view our full scores in the table below or via Cropster’s B Corp Public Profile
